Precision tapping is thread work held to the print, and it is often the difference between a fabricated part that bolts up and one that has to be made again.
Threads are where a lot of otherwise good parts get thrown away. A hole drilled slightly off, a tap started out of square, a thread stripped by an impact gun on the last install. None of those are dramatic failures and all of them stop an assembly.
We tap and thread in aluminum, steel and stainless, on parts we fabricate and on parts you bring us. We also do the repair side, which is often the more urgent call: a stripped thread in a casting that cannot be replaced, a broken tap that has to come out without damaging the part around it.
The reason to keep this in the same shop as the fabrication is that the part usually needs both. A bracket that gets cut, welded and then tapped in three places has been handled once instead of shipped twice.
Send the print if you have one. Thread work is specified by the drawing, and quoting from a description rather than a print is how the wrong thread ends up in the right hole. Where there is no drawing, send the part itself along with the fastener that has to go into it.
This work runs alongside the rest of the shop rather than separately from it. A bracket that gets cut, welded, blasted and tapped is one job here, handled once. That is usually both faster and cheaper than moving a part between two or three suppliers, and it means there is one company answering for whether the finished part is right.

Can you tap parts we bring in, or only parts you make?
Both. Send the part and the print and we will quote the thread work on its own.
Can you recover a stripped or damaged thread?
Often yes, and it is a common call on castings and housings that are expensive or no longer available.

Do you need a drawing?
For precision work, yes, a print is the right way to specify it. For simpler thread repair, the part itself is usually enough.
